Q&A with The Independent Schools Alvin Richard – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by WSU Tech

VYPE got to sit down with TIS athlete Alvin Richard to find out more about who he is.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

Some goals of mine are to make it to playoffs again this year and also to put on around 20 lbs throughout the season.

VYPE: What is the most fun you have had in the last year?

The most fun I’ve had in the last year is making it to the playoffs with my well-deserved team, and even advancing.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade, and why?

My Favorite Teacher is Ms. Alicia Holland. She’s always been there for me and done her best to guide me. she’s always been with me and not against me. and she has always held me to a higher standard than everyone else.

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is either making it to the playoffs this past year or my freshman year when I led my team to the first victory in 3 and a half years with 3 touchdowns.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

2 teammates that have left impressions on me are Christian Dean and Joseph Recalde-Phillips. These two showed me that hard work and dedication paid off. They never gave up and proved how much of a factor they were for our team.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part of being on a team is being able to work with people while also being competitive. Also to help teach and learn from my peers and coaches. it helps me be a better player and a better person.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation. Where do you go, and who do you take with you?

If I could go anywhere I’d probably go to California with one of my closest friends Grayson Jensen. there’s no reason in particular but it’s just something we’ve talked about before.

VYPE: If we gave you $500 and you had to spend it in the next 24 hours, what would you spend it on?

I would probably invest it for the future whether that’s into a business, or it’s sports equipment, or paying for camps.

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

No, I don’t really participate in many community service projects due to my busy sports and work schedule. However, I do pick some up to help out whether it’s other sports or the lower school is having an activity.
